Gemini adds hourly Zcash and Hyperliquid prediction markets
The $1-or-zero contracts let traders take short-term price views with fixed hourly and daily settlement times.
Gemini began offering hourly and daily prediction contracts tied to Zcash and Hyperliquid on Nov. 2, giving customers short-dated ways to take a view on whether the price of either asset will clear a stated level by a fixed deadline.
The contracts ask a yes-or-no question, such as whether ZEC will be above a specified price at a specified time. Hourly markets resolve at the top of each hour, while daily markets settle at a designated time at the end of the day, the company said. The markets were live when Gemini announced them.
Each binary contract pays $1 if the selected outcome is correct and $0 if it is not. A trader's maximum loss is therefore the price paid to acquire the contract. Positions can also be sold before settlement at the prevailing market price.
Gemini said it had spent more than a year building a prediction-markets platform centred on cryptocurrency price movements, and described Zcash and Hyperliquid as assets that had recently gained popularity. Zcash, which trades as ZEC, is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency. HYPE is the associated asset of Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange supporting trading across multiple cryptocurrencies.
Gemini's prediction-markets platform operates as Gemini Titan, a Commodity Futures Trading Commission-supervised Designated Contract Market. Gemini Titan received its CFTC licence on Dec. 10, 2025, following an application first filed in March 2020. The approval allowed Gemini to offer prediction markets to U.S. customers, who can trade event contracts with U.S. dollars held in their Gemini accounts through the web interface.
Gemini's prediction-markets operation had processed more than 329 million contracts in more than 2.5 million trades between its December 2025 launch and Oct. 21. It reached 100 million contracts by May and 225 million by mid-August. Gemini also launched public dashboards on Oct. 21 showing volume, open interest and market concentration across sports, politics, asset prices and commodities.
At the time the ZEC and HYPE markets were reported, no trading volume had been disclosed for either one. Newsquawk noted that short-dated binary products can concentrate trading around their strike price and expiry, and characterised hourly and daily contracts as speculative instruments that may involve wide spreads, settlement-price risk and sensitivity to the price source used for resolution.
