OpenAI has a deal with Kalshi that brings the prediction market’s World Cup data into ChatGPT search results, the New York Times reported. In a search for “France and Spain,” ChatGPT displayed a graphic saying France had a 60% chance of winning on Tuesday, attributed to Kalshi data.
A separate search for England against Argentina cited Kalshi data suggesting England had a 55% chance of beating Argentina. The Times said the arrangement was not promoted publicly.
The Verge also reported that OpenAI was surfacing Kalshi forecasts in World Cup-related queries.
CNBC reported that Kalshi gained 3 million new users over the course of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and that more than $1.2 billion had been traded on contracts predicting the tournament winner.
Kalshi said its World Cup trading volumes had increased and that converting those users into recurring traders was a priority. Chief executive Tarek Mansour told CNBC: “Our volumes are where the news is at.”
The company’s sports contracts have also faced legal scrutiny. States argue that such contracts amount to sports betting and should fall under state control, while Kalshi says the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has sole power to regulate prediction markets.
