Polymarket names first companywide CFO as fundraising looms

Polymarket has named Warren Jenson as its first chief financial officer, bringing in a veteran finance executive as the prediction-market platform broadens its business and sharpens its capital plans.

According to the company, Jenson began the role this week and will report to founder and chief executive Shayne Coplan. He will lead Polymarket’s finance organisation, set financial and capital strategy, strengthen long-range planning and help build the infrastructure for the company’s next phase.

As covered in August, Polymarket had already been reshaping its growth and marketing leadership ahead of a busier autumn.

Jenson’s résumé spans some of the best-known names in tech and consumer finance. Polymarket said he previously served as chief financial officer of Amazon, Electronic Arts, Delta Air Lines and NBC. He also held senior finance posts at Nielsen and LiveRamp.

The company said the appointment comes as it scales its CFTC-regulated U.S. exchange, expands its global platform and adds senior leaders across the business. Coplan said Jenson’s experience would be critical to everything Polymarket builds from here, while Jenson said he was joining to put capital strategy and operating discipline in place so the company can move quickly at scale.

The hire comes as Polymarket is seeking new investment. Investing.com reported that the company is raising $1 billion in a round led by 1789 Capital that would value it at $21 billion, as it works to regain momentum after falling behind rival Kalshi in valuation and trading volume.

The appointment also lands against a more cautious backdrop for prediction markets. CNBC reported in August that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission was conducting an internal review into mention markets on prediction platforms, though Polymarket does not offer them on its U.S. exchange and does offer them overseas.
